ModeratorsDr. Gayathri Prabhu is a Professor of Literary Studies and the Director of the Manipal Institute of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts (MISHA) at MAHE, where she also leads the Student Support Centre, a key mental-health resource for the university community. She holds a PhD in English from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and an MPhil in Creative Writing from Swansea University, Wales.
A recipient of the R. K. Narayan Award (2010) and the Charles Wallace Writing Fellowship at the University of Stirling (2020), Gayathri’s work spans fiction, memoir, literary criticism, and cinema studies. She is the author of eight books across genres — including four novels, a memoir, a prose-poetry novella, and a co-authored study on black-and-white Hindi cinema.
Her most recent book, A Genre of Her Own (Bloomsbury Academic, 2025), explores life writing and feminist literary beginnings in modern India, reflecting her deep engagement with narrative form, memory, and women’s voices.
