ModeratorsDr. Dhanasree Jayaram is a scholar of climate security and environmental geopolitics, serving as Senior Assistant Professor at the Department of Geopolitics and International Relations and Co-coordinator of the Centre for Climate Studies at the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE). Her work spans the intersections of climate diplomacy, security, and governance across Southern Asia, the Indo-Pacific, and the polar regions.
She is a Research Fellow with the Earth System Governance Network, a Member of the Climate Security Expert Network, and holds affiliations with several international and Indian policy institutes, including the Finnish Institute of International Affairs, the Centre for Public Policy Research, the Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies, and the Network for Education and Research on Peace and Sustainability (Hiroshima University).
Dhanasree has held prestigious international fellowships, including the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation’s International Climate Protection Fellowship at the Centre Marc Bloch and Freie Universität Berlin (2022–23), a Swiss Government postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Lausanne (2018–19), and an Erasmus Mundus visiting fellowship at Leiden University (2014–15). Her research focuses on environmental and climate security, gender and climate governance, and the geopolitical implications of emerging climate interventions such as solar geoengineering.
